White Bear Lake
The city of White Bear Lake, with its population of around 26,000 inhabitants, is located about 20 minutes north of St. Paul. The lake that gives its name to the city has been a popular one since the days when Native American tribes hunted, fished, and lived here.
White Bear Lake became a popular destination for summer tourism and, in the days of Prohibition, had a somewhat dubious reputation as a gangster hang-out.
These days it is still popular for day trippers but also as a suburban community for the Twin Cities.
